Examinations and ALDO

In order to be eligible for the issuance of a permit to practice and a specialist certificate in family medicine or in another specialty, a candidate must

• have completed, in a recognized training program, their period of postdoctoral training for a certification in their specialty or have obtained the equivalence;
• hold a license from the Medical Council of Canada (MCC); however, this requirement does not apply to a resident registered in Québec, before July 1^st, 2009, in a university postdoctoral training program other than family medicine;
• have successfully passed the final examination for the specialty, either from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada's of from the College of Family Physicians of Canada;
• have participated in an ALDO-Québec educational activity;
• have a working knowledge of the French language;
• have paid the required fees for the permit and the certificate.
