The Legal Services Division (LSD) of the Collège des médecins du Québec plays various roles in the organization and assumes all the responsibilities of the Office . It manages the activities of the Disciplinary Council and the Review Committee and maintains their records. It plans and organizes procedures set out in the applicable laws and regulations, trains the members of the statutory committees and provides administrative and legal support to these committees.

The LSD is responsible for coordinating the Order’s litigation activities and following up on the Collège’s legal and regulatory cases. Developing and updating all the regulations governing the profession are among its most important activities. It issues legal opinions in support of the other divisions. 

The LSD coordinates the council for the arbitration of accounts and processes compensation claims.

Lastly, the LSD oversees the management of the Collège’s records and archives, that is, the Order’s records and archives, the management of the administrative records of the Collège’s divisions, professional records and documentary research.

You can contact the staff of the Legal Services Division from Monday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m and on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
