If you have a medical degree and would like to do a fellowship, you must contact the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education directly at one of Quebec’s faculties of medicine.
The Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) will only consider applications that have been approved by a faculty of medicine in Quebec.
The faculty of medicine must send the CMQ a letter confirming your admission to a specialty program at a university in Quebec or to a host or exchange program approved by the faculty of medicine or by government authorities and which indicates the discipline and the start and end dates of the program. Applications will not be considered until this letter has been received.
The CMQ will then give you access to the form to fill through our Online services.
- You have a Doctor of Medicine degree from a school or university listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) published by the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).
- You have passed the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) or the USMLE Step 2 CK or you have a specialist’s certificate. See Examinations required.
You have submitted certain documents to physiciansapply.ca and others to the CMQ. See Documents required. At this link, you will find all the information you need, in particular if you are in your final year or have completed your postgraduate training but are waiting to receive your specialist’s certificate.
Once the documents have been verified or if they are awaiting verification, a letter of eligibility will be sent to your personal page. A copy will be sent to the faculty of medicine by email. In April of the same year at the earliest, you will receive an email from the “Training cards” section of the CMQ that will tell you what you need to do to complete your fellowship application through the Online services and Fees.
As a fellow, you are authorized to perform, among the professional activities reserved to physicians, those that are required to complete your fellowship.
