Accreditation
A Tool for Controlling the Quality of Training
The Collège des médecins du Québec is the organization legally responsible for assuring the quality of the training received by doctors who are going into the practice of family medicine or in another specialty. In order to carry out this function, the DEM makes use of a tool of prime importance — accreditation.
Accreditation
Accreditation is a mean used by the Collège to assure that all professional training criteria have indeed been applied. Accreditation focuses on the duration and content of such training, and on training environments. All programs developed under the aegis of medical faculties must obtain Collège accreditation so that residents enrolled therein can ensure their training is duly recognized, thus making them eligible for the exams to obtain a permit to practice and a specialist certificate.
List of Accreditations
All accredited programs and establishments are included in the 2011-2012 List of Accreditations that is updated after each meeting of the Collège’s Medical Studies and Accreditation Committee (MSAC).
