Students from a faculty of medicine outside of Québec
Students from a faculty of medicine outside of Québec wishing to serve training periods in Québec must hold a registration certificate issued by the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ). Certain formalities must be followed to obtain one.
The registration certificate authorizes the student to perform, under supervision, the medical acts required for his or her training, in compliance with the Regulation respecting the professional acts that may be performed by persons other than physicians and the applicable terms and conditions. Furthermore, the student must perform these professional acts in compliance with the standards applicable to physicians, notably those related to ethics and the keeping of records and consulting rooms.
Formalities for obtaining a registration certificate
A student from a faculty of medicine outside of Québec must:
- Be accepted by a faculty of medicine in a Québec university. The faculty will confirm the student’s acceptance to the CMQ.
- Apply for the registration certificate online, through the secured section of the Web site.
As soon as the Collège des médecins will have received the confirmation of his or her acceptance by the Faculty of Medicine, each student will receive his or her user code and password allowing him or her to access the application online. Students who have not received this message can communicate with the Medical Education Division, at 514-933-4249.
The Collège des médecins du Québec will then send a registration certificate to the candidate.
